Sustainable development involves the aspects of environment, ecology and the society. It is mainly focusing on improving the quality of human lives, using locally available resources. However we must ensure that the environment is not degraded in the process,for future generations to access the resources as well. Sustainable development is creating a world that is more just and peaceful.
The critical concerns in our community/country are unclean environment, food insecurity, water scarcity, malnutrition and political instability.
As teacher educators we have to apply teaching and learning methods that would ensure active participation of learners so they acquire more knowledge and skills that would help them to meet the needs of the society present and future.
Interactive and learner centered methods enable exploratory action oriented and transformative learning that inspire learners to act for sustainability. It will also guide in empowering learners to take informed decisions and responsible actions for environmental integrity.
