Sustainable development is development that does not deplete natural resources. It is development that preserves resources for future generations but also takes into consideration that it harmonizes developmental activities with nature. SD issues affecting my community include impacts of climate change in the form of recurring droughts and other extreme weather events, loss of biodiversity, gender inequality, unemployment, poverty and social injustice.

Sustainable development is a learning process, it evolves with time. It relates to the circumstances that one is in.

There is need to first assess the situation/circumstances of all those (teachers, learners, community etc.) that are involved in my ESD work. If we are all having the same understanding then our efforts will be sustainable. In Malawi we have also a big problem on how to dispose the waste
